Dog days by Jeff kinney

Mum said we should call the dog sweetheart. I thought that was a really terrible idea, because the dog i s a BOY, not a girl. But, before any of us could fight it, Dad agreed with Mom's idea.I think Dad was willing to go with any ting Mom came up with if it meant he didn't have to take the dog back. But something tells me Uncle Joe would not approve of our Dog's name.Dad told Rodrick he should go to the mall to buy a bowl and get the dog's name printed on it, and here's what Rodrick came back with- a bowl witted Sweaty instead of Sweetie. I guess that's what you get when you sent the worst speller in the family off to do your errands.

Dog by Daniel Pennac

Dog and Black Nose were waiting patiently at the bottom of the tip. They could hear the distant hum of engines. Then a cloud of dust rose up behind the plane trees lining the road. The rubbish trucks loomed into sight;the avalanche followed. How did it happen? And accident that was over in a flash. They'd dodged everything and located all the likely spots. But then a huge white metal object came tumbling out of the skip. It bounced off the heap and spun round heavily in the air. "Watch out for that fridge!" Warned Black Nose. Dog laughed and leaped to one side as Black Nose jumped forward to let the fridge land behind her. Which it did. But the door had worked itself lose in mid flight. Black Nose didn't see it because it was hidden by the bulk of the fridge. It was the door that killed her. Dog thought it was a joke when he saw her laid out flat and panting. He ran round her yapping and wriggling his behind. "Stop fooling around," murmured Black Nose."not now..."Dog stopped in his tracks and for the first time in his life he felt and icy an icy shiver run down his spine:Total terror. Somehow he plucked up the courage to get close the her.

Hardy boys by Franklin W. Dixon

I couldn't figure out why Joe was not, slowing down as we approached the intersection. I don't think I've ever seen him run a light. Well, I wasn't going to do it, and I would definitely get on his case about it later. My right hand twisted the brake control-and then i understood.something was wrong withe my bike-and Joe's,too. I tried the front brakes and then the back. Nothing. No response. This was bad really, really bad.

tassie and the black baron by Katie Roy

'They almost seem to. . . like me!' he was forced to think, but that didn't sound right, so he leant out and had a good look around the battlements to make sure it wasn't someone else they were cheering. No.He was definitely the toast of the town. A small, savage smile crawled across his face.
